Dr Mary Bousted from the National Education Union, said she is pleased today, with the decision to revoke the ‘academy order’ from Redbridge School.
Bousted further questioned the government and OFSTED’s insistence on immediately placing ‘Academy Orders’ on schools that were judged “inadequate” (Education Journal, 26 February 2019).
The only reason the school had a complete turnaround is because of the hard work and talent of the staff, Bousted added.
For this reason, it was seen as more appropriate to lift the ‘academy order’ and allow the school and its hard working staff, to continue to work within the local authority to overcome challenges and continue their path to success.
Well Done Redbridge School !
